12 October 2023, Houston, TX: Dia de la Mujer Latina (DML) proudly announces the remarkable milestones achieved
over the past year in its commitment to the Latina/o/x community’s health and well-being.

As we celebrate Latina/Hispanic Heritage Month, DML will honor the tireless efforts of approximately 6,000 certified
Promotores and Community Health Workers in Texas with a special commemoration event scheduled for October 28,
2023.

On September 30, 2023, DML hosted its annual mini health fiesta, where out of over 400 in attendance, 198 women
received Clinical Breast Exams, and 59 women underwent cervical cancer screening. Notably, DML reached a significant milestone by providing 15 women with the innovative 3D Breast Ultrasound, and all those with serious suspicious findings received immediate care through NextGen’s Bella’s Battle. Additionally, DML’s Prostate Cancer Initiative witnessed the registration of over 76 Latino men for PSAs. Furthermore, with our partnerships in both city and county health departments, we were able to offer 78 vaccinations.

To date, our dedicated Promotoras/CHWs have engaged in more than 68,000 encounters and reached over 36,000
individuals through our Facebook Live initiative, “Hablando Entre Nos.” DML’s commitment to education is further
exemplified by providing scholarships to 5 Promotoras/CHWs, enabling them to become Pharmacy Techs and assist in the vaccination efforts for the growing number of Latinos/as seeking protection. DML remains unwavering in its mission to educate and support our cherished community, especially during these challenging times.
